To the Vestey of St. James and St. John,
Clerkenwell.
Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present to you a report upon the
samples submitted to me for analysis, under the Sale of Food
and Drugs Act, during the year ending 31st March, 1897.

Table: The total number of samples of food and drugs examined during this period was 311, a larger number than in any previous year. In the six preceding years the totals were as follows:—

During the past year Inspector W. J. Bartlett has submitted
