calculation, the estimated population for the Parish does
not correspond accurately with the estimated populations of
the sub-districts. This discrepancy (which is unimportant) is
due to the fact that each sub-district has had its population
deduced from its own special decennial increase between
1881 and 1891 —a mode of calculation which, though in
principle strictly correct, does not allow of accurate
correspondence.

Table V. enumerates the births which were registered
in the Parish and its sub-districts during the years 1893 and
1894. It will be observed that in the latter year the births
were 87 fewer than those in the former year. In Dulwich
there was an increase of 14; but in Camberwell a fallingoff
of 8; in Peckham a falling-off of 57; and in St.
George's a falling-off of 36.
