would put the work in hand with the least possible delay, and such
ventilating pipe was subsequently erected.

During the year the Sanitary Inspectors collected, and the Public Analyst analysed 199 samples, consisting of the following articles, viz.:—

Proceedings were taken against the sellers of four samples of
butter, one of which was certified to consist entirely of margarine,
and the others to be admixed with 92, 77 and 25 per cent, of
margarine respectively, and fines were inflicted amounting together
to £7.
A summons was also issued against the seller of a sample of
butter, which was certified to consist entirely of margarine, but
the police were unable to serve the summons, as the seller had
left the premises where the Inspector made the purchase, and
could not be found elsewhere.
