The annual death rate per 1000 living being 23.6 for Poplar and
22.9 for Bromley. See Tables I. and II. on page 85.
The births exceeded the deaths by 411 in Poplar and by 614 in
Bromley, making a total excess of 1025. The male deaths in the
two parishes exceeded those of the female by 106, and the female
births exceeded those of the male by 27.
