The following items cannot be taken into the Library:
- outdoor coats and jackets
- bags larger than 29 × 21 × 7 cm (around the size of an A4 sheet of paper)
- food and drink.
These restrictions protect and secure the collections and are a condition of admission.
Food and drink
Food and drink must not be brought into the Library. This restriction includes:
- sweets and gum
- any drinks, including bottled water.
Water bottles and drinks containers, filled or empty, are not allowed into the Library. We do provide water fountains in the Library, but we ask that you drink at the fountains using the conical cups provided. Water should not be taken into study areas.
The Wellcome Café and Wellcome Kitchen are open daily. Wellcome Kitchen is closed on Mondays.
Cloakroom and lockers
Please leave your personal belongings in the free, staffed cloakroom on the ground level. We can supply clear plastic bags to carry your laptop, pens and pencils, books and other essential items into the Library.
The size of luggage and large bags you can store at Wellcome Collection is restricted to a standard ‘carry-on’ size. Any bags larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm cannot be stored in the cloakroom. Luggage storage facilities are available nearby at Euston Station and King’s Cross Station.
A small number of lockers are located on level 2 in the Library foyer. Any items remaining in the lockers at the end of the day will be removed by Security. Any left items will be deposited in lost property for one week.
Please don’t leave your personal belongings unattended when you are in the Library: it's a public space, and you do so at your own risk. We reserve the right to search your bags in the interest of security.
