I. THORPE COOMBE MATERNITY HOSPITAL.
The Hospital was transferred to the North East Metropolitan
Regional Hospital Board on July 5th and acknowledgement must
be made of the very fine work which has been done there since it
was opened in April, 1934. The reputation of the Hospital, kept
up by Miss Helen Rodway, F.R.C.O.G., Obstetrician in Charge,
the various Matrons and the staff, is second to none both as a
Maternity Hospital and as a training school for midwives for
Part I and Part II.
The Hospital has contributed in no small measure to the
progressive decline during the past four years in the stillbirth and
the neo-natal infant death rates, and the maternal death rate.
Emergency Unit.—The services of an emergency unit are
available on the District.
