About this work

Description

Insured members of staff of hospitals and asylums were allowed under the National Insurance Act to make their own arrangements with the institution for the provision of medical attendance and treatment, with the institution receiving the costs of treatment from the Approved Insurance Societies to which employees were contributors. These folders contain lists of names of Retreat staff and the Approved Societies of which they were members. There is also correspondence with the local Insurance Committee and forms, circulars and notices and other correspondence relating to the general administration of health insurance. Some correspondence relates to named staff
