This volume is marked 'Pat's' Disb 'ts' on front and on spine and on first page. Despite the title, this is not a Patients' Disbursements Book like series in RET 3/2/3. In fact, this volume must be another type of Journal: gathering information about sums spent on patients before entry under individual patient's account in Patients' Ledger, and also itemising sundries, postage, carriage and furniture which are then entered in the General Ledger Volume has quarterly lists of patients' names and amounts spent, with number of folio in Patient' Ledger. Quarterly totals are given, and sum for patients' work deducted. At the end of the financial year (31 March), sums for sundries, furniture, postage and carriage are added to total of disbursements, and sum for patients' work deducted. Also at end of years 1824-1827, names of staff and amounts of salaries are listed and totalled. The volume has also been used to itemise sundries, furniture postage and carriage 2 August 1823 - 31 March 1840 The information in this volume was originally continued into another similarly titled book, now RET 3/10/3/1, but this second book ceased in 1842 and was later re-used for another purpose RET 3/10/1/6, another volume later re-used, recorded similar information 1829-1842 under the title 'Patients Accounts', and may in effect have been a fair copy of the Journals
