About this work

Description

Information contained includes patient name, admission date, rate of board, details of Cautioner, which includes name, town and in some cases occupation and address, and notes relating to dates of discharge, death, transfer, and increase or reduction in rate of board. Dates of discharge and death are not always recorded. Patient age is recorded inconsistently from 1871. From around 1850 the relationship between Cautioner and patient is recorded. Loose items found in this volume include: 1) The detached back page of the volume which has a manuscript list of the number of admissions paying rate of board at £100 and upwards, for years 1871/72 to 1884/85 2) Undated newspaper clipping, 'The Great Scandal (Being a letter from a son of toil in London to a friend in the country).'
