Description

Letter from Frederick.M. Deighton to Ruth Hoffmann, dated December 17th 1950, describing Camberwell House Hospital. Deighton describes the hospital, the numbers of patients, the fees they pay, and their treatment compared with that which they would receive in the National Health Service; he also describes his own life in staff accommodation and some personal matters relating to him and his family.

Biographical note

Frederick.Montague Deighton passed as MRCS Eng. and LRCP in 1924, training in London; he took further qualifications of MB and BChir at Cambridge in 1943. He served as Deputy Medical Superintendent at Fulbourn Hospital, Cambridge, and Camberwell House, London. He had retired by 1960 and last appears in the Medical Directory for 1978.

Dr. Ruth Hoffman passed MB and Chir B in Glasgow in 1945, adding DPM (Diploma in Psychological Medicine) of the Royal Medico-Psychological Association in 1953.
