About this work

Description

At back of volume are tabulated monthly reports on Retreat patients, giving name of patient, and whether 'better', 'stationary', or 'relapsed' etc, January 1826 - December 1837 (later monthly reports for 1838 - 1853 are in a separate volume, RET 1/1/6/1/1). At end of volume is a copy of an indenture of 22 March, 9 George IV, apprenticing John Kitching to Thomas Allis, Superintendent of the Retreat (see also RET 5/9/2(2) for letter written by Allis in 1841 describing Kitching's education). There is also a note of the appointing of new Trustees and of the conveyancing of the premises outside Walmgate Bar, formerly the Appendage, to the Retreat
