Refr: G&M 3940 Note: Bouchardat used the 'fermentation test', the polariscope, and copper solutions to detect diabetes, and introduced the most rational method of treatment of the disease up to his time. He had noted the actual disappearance of glycosuria during the siege of Paris by the Germans in 1870, and devised a 'dietetic cure'
