"The extracts at the close of the work [v. 2, p. [257]-307] were selected by Dr. Reid of Edinburgh, in order to bring into view the practice of various writers of eminence since the time of the venerable Cullen."-- v. 1, p. [v]
The author's preface is the same as that in the Edinburgh edition of 1784, where it is dated Nov. 1783. Here it is (erroneously?) dated Nov. 1789. Reid's notes were previously published in the Isaiah Thomas edition of 1807
