Description

Letter from C S Collins of Scotland Yard to Galton dated 3rd October 1902 regarding photographs of the fingerprints of a criminal and requesting a meeting. Letter from Collins to Galton dated 6th October 1902 originally enclosing the prints. Notes by Galton on an incident in which the prints of one man were mistaken for another and a press cutting on the same subject from the British Medical Journal, 18th October 1902. Press cutting from Nature 16th October 1902 containing an article by Galton on fingerprints as identification in a criminal case. Also includes two photographic enlargements of fingerprints, three tracings and one drawing of the same prints, marked for comparison.
