Letters from Major W B Ferris to Galton discussing the difficulties experienced by Indian officials in making accurate identification of individuals, and the use of fingerprint systems to overcome this. Ferris was also in contact with Alphonse Bertillion regarding his system of identification. Includes four sets of fingerprints enclosed with a letter of 28 July 1892.
