As an actor, Michael Allinson (1920-2010) understudied Rex Harrison on Broadway in the role of Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady, and in 1960 took over the role from him. He also performed in other plays and in films

This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "From the innuendo in the inscriptions it is clear that the three subjects of this set of photographs were (or were pretending to be) gay men conversing in a code that could be easly recognized by other gay men, and yet seem innocuous to a casual reader. The dedication on this one is "To the one and only Phyl ! lots of gay times to you!! Michael." The spelling of Phil (for Philip) is changed to Phyl (for Phyllis)".
