About this work

Description

Two married couples in which the brides are sailors in drag, possibly Royal Marines, on board H.M.S. St. Vincent. They are performing the wedding ceremony in 'The Great Casimir', a musical play by Henry Sambrooke Leigh (1837-1883) and Charles Lecocq.
