Papers of Dr James Harrison Renwick, correspondence files

This is not an extensive collection of correspondence as Renwick kept the bulk of his scientific correspondence with the research to which it related, and it is consequently to be found in section UGC 155/3. With the exception of the correspondence with Professor Lowell R Weitkamp there are no extended exchanges of letters. Other correspondents represented by more than the individual letter include Professor Edmund Anthony Murphy, Dr Ruth Ann Sanger, and Professor Cedric Austen Bardell Smith. There are also references and recommendations.

James (Jim) Harrison Renwick was a Titular Professor of Genetics at the University from 1967-1968. He joined the Department of Genetics in 1959 as a Research Fellow and was appointed to Senior Lecturer in 1960 and a Reader in 1966. He made a fundamental contribution to modern genetics, in particular to the development of human gene mapping that paved the way for the Human Genome Project.
