Includes application for expenses for the establishment of a cytogenetics laboratory at Glasgow. Correspondence with Professor Daniel Fowler Cappell, Dr Bernard Lennox, Professor Guido Pontecorvo, Dr J M Johnston, Patricia M Ellis and Miss Elizabeth Boyd covers Ferguson-Smith's experiences of working at the John Moore Clinic at John Hopkins Hospital, developments in the Pathology and Genetics Departments at the University of Glasgow, and the establishment of a lectureship on Medical Genetics. There is also correspondence with the National Foundation, Medical Research Council, and Great Britain and Northern Ireland Scottish Home and Health Department Advisory Committee on Medical Research relating to funding for research projects.
