Pontecorvo's suggestions included Dr Gloor and Dr Jospeh Alan Roper of the University of Glasgow. Boris Ephrussi was also mentioned by Professor Van den Honert, to which Pontecorvo responded by describing him as "indirectly, the father of the biochemical genetics of microorganisms" and "one of the top geneticists in the world".
