About this work

Description

The series consists of items relating to Watson’s tenure with the human genome project. It is primarily composed of correspondence, meetings materials, reports, grant applications, manuscripts, lecture transcripts, and a significant number of articles and clippings reflecting the tremendous amount of effort that Watson contributed to the project’s inception, which paved the way for the eventual success of mapping the human genome.

Watson’s role at the National Center for Human Genome Research (NCHGR) is particularly well documented, as are the many scientific meetings held on ethics and the Human Genome Project.

The series is divided into 4 subseries and arranged chronologically.

1. General Files (1965, 1981-2005)

2. Intact Magazines and Publications (1986-2001)

3. Articles and Clippings (1982-2000)

4. Human Genome Grant Applications (1989)
