Biographical note
This publication of the Galton Institute was initiated in May 1991. In 1990 the last issue of the Institute's journal Biology and Society was published. Members of the Galton Institute subsequently received instead the Journal of Biosocial Science published by the Biosocial Society, with an editorial advisory panel upon which the Galton Institute was represented. The Institute decided to produce in addition its own Newsletter, `to facilitate better communication with members on matters of more domestic interest'.
