About this work

Description

Initially 'joint meetings' of the Society and the Association of London Borough Chief Environmental Health Officers. From the second meeting also included representatives of the Association of Metropolitan Chief Environmental Health Officers. From Feb 1996 it was formally called the Environmental Health Liaison Group. Covered various aspects of communicable disease control and environmental health.

One of the Group's terms of reference was to make constructive comments on consultative documents and draft regulations issued by national or local government and public health organisations and to advise the Council of the Society. Many documents considered by the Group shaped Society policy statements (see L.198-205).

The Group still exists within the merged Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene and Society of Public Health.
