About this work

Description

Excellent receipts for divers distempers most of [them] approved and practised. [Followed by] Notes for sermons, etc., and a theological common-place book. Compiler's holograph MS. On the 28th leaf of the theological section of the MS., Dalton has written: 'Oatleidg [sic] Hall in agro Cantabrigiae Domino Dudleio North sacellanus domesticus Nathaniel Dalton et vicarius ibidem'. Below this is the date 13 January, 1668.

Physical description

1 volume 1 l. + 23 pp. + 186 ll. folio. 30 x 181/2 cm. Half-calf binding by Bretherton 1849, with his trade label. A number of leaves have been cut out from different parts of the MS., and it seems to have been compiled over many years. Some cookery receipts in a later and illiterate hand have been interpolated in the first part.
