About this work

Description

Collection of medical, cookery and household recipes, in various hands. The medical receipts occupy the front of the volume (ff. 1a-10 passim), the cookery ones are entered from the back (ff. 58.-14v.). Medical authorities include Dr Soames (f. 1b), Dr Mead [presumably Richard Mead 1673-1754] (f. 6), Dr Moore (f. 7), and Mr Stanton of Shrewsbury (f. 9). A loose leaf records a recipe for a mouth-wash from Dr Foy, dentist [Nathaniel Foy, dentist of Bath].
