Description

Chemical and pharmaceutical notes, formulae, etc.: in English and Latin. Author's holograph MS. The spine is lettered 'Chemical and pharmaceutical formulary. Ambroise Godfrey'. On fol. 6v is the date, 1724; and on fol. 86r, the date 1733, but these appear to be later additions.

Physical description

1 volume 89 ff. + 12 ll. 4to. 20 × 161/2 cm. Original vellum binding, with modern re-backing. Fol. 25r has been torn out, and ff. 13v-16v are wanting. There is an unusual foliation, in which fol. 2v faces fol. 2r.

Purchased 1915.

Biographical note

The writer is Ambrose Godfrey who was assistant to Robert Boyle, and had a chemist's shop in Covent Garden. [see the Dictionary of National Biography].
