About this work

Description

49 autograph letters and notes by Sage, mostly autograph and signed (attached to no. 25 is a printed letter from Sage to the Minister of the Interior), formerly held in the Western Manuscripts collection's Autograph Letters Sequence.

Correspondents include the mineralogist Jean Baptiste Louis de Romé de l'Isle (1736-1790) (nos. 2-3, 5-6, 29-32); nos. 26-27 refer to balloon flights and to "M. de Montgolfier".

In chronological order, with numerous undated items at the end of the collection; in addition, material carrying no year but using the revolutionary calendar of 1792-1805 for the names of months is kept at the appropriate point in the chronological sequence (nos. 10-16)

Also including a printed invitation to Sage's funeral (no. 50).
