About this work

Description

Medical and pharmaceutical recipe book, which includes some household and cookery recipes, c.1830-1870. Also contains some miscellaneous recipes, such as those relating to photography (ff.100-101) and taxidermy (f.93r). All written in one hand. Indexed (ff. 5-51). Paginated following the index, although pagination is not always consistent. The index is located near the front of the volume, however, not all the recipes are included within it. Includes loose recipe for cough mixture, attributed to Mrs Fisher of Bath, inserted at the front of the volume. Large number of blank pages at the back.
