About this work

Description

In Oct 1974 the Society's sectional Groups were replaced by five Specialist Committees of Council. The work of the General Purposes Committee was also taken over by these new Committees. Each Specialist Committee was managed by a Chairman. The Committee of Chairman met regularly to co-ordinate and report activities. Reports of activities of Specialist Committees were made to Council and can be found in the Council minutes. This new sectional organisation was not successful, and most of the Specialist Committees had ceased to meet by the end of 1976.

No original, signed minutes of these Committees have survived and the contents of the following files found in the deposit are extremely erratic. However, it should be noted that a more inclusive set of copy minutes can be found in the Council papers, particularly those of Dr Whittles - as indicated below.

(Evidence and comments produced by the Specialist Committees for Government reports, regulations, commissions and committees can be found in Section L.)
