Notes

On the title is a signature 'Antoine L. Lavoisier 1792'. This was examined by the late Dr. Douglas McKie of University College, London, author of a biography of Lavoisier, who stated positively that this could not be the autograph of the famous chemist, though it bears some slight similarity to it.

Finding aids

Database description transcribed from S.A.J. Moorat, Catalogue of Western Manuscripts on Medicine and Science in the Wellcome Historical Medical Library (London: Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, 1962-1973).

Ownership note

Book-plate of Dr. Georg [Franz Burkhard] Kloss M.D. [1787-1854] pasted on a fly-leaf. Apparently not included in the Kloss Sale at Sotheby's 7-26/5/1835.
