Subjects covered are Cantlie's use of a tuning-fork instead of a stethoscope to detect disease (he recommended placing a tuning-fork against the body of a patient to gauge the precise limits of the liver by the tones given out); proposals to establish a Ronald Ross Institute of Research in Tropical diseases; disease spred by vermin (rodents and plague); cancer and cockroaches; reviews of The Conquest of Disease by David Masters (John Lane, 1925) which contained a foreword by Cantlie; reviews of New Cancer Facts by David Masters (John Lane, The Bodley Head, 1925) which contained a foreword by Cantlie and was partly an account of the researches of Dr Louis Sambon on the causes of cancer (germ theory and "cancer houses": see SA/CRC/N.1/2), foundation of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and reports of meetings 1920-1921; women's clothing; life insurance in the tropies.
