About this work

Description

Collection of medical prescriptions [c. 1895], in a copy of 'Bell's Commonplace Book for the pocket' 1770, originally belonging to P. Fyers in 1787. The name of the original owner, P. Fyers, is found written inside the first fly-leaf, dated January 23, 1787. At the end of the 11 ll. he states that he has arrived at Madeira 20th of April 1787, and the last leaf is stamped 'P. Fyers. Edinburgh.' The medical receipts are presumably by W. Macmath and may perhaps be dated about 1895, though his signature under that of P. Fyers on the first fly-leaf is dated 12th April 1904. At the end of the volume there are seven figure drawings in pencil, perhaps also by him.
