Cookery-Books: 17th cent.

Collection of cookery receipts in classified order: at the end 'Bills of Fares', and two full-page pen-drawings of the 'First Course' and the 'Second Course'. In English, and by the same hand throughout. On the verso of the first leaf is pasted a printed broadside advertisement of 'Dredge's Heal-all' dated Wishford (Wilts) 1823.

Late 17th century

1 volume 170 ll. + 12 bl. ll. folio. 31 x 191/2 cm. Modern half-calf binding. Though the numbering of the receipts 1-512 is irregular, the leaves containing Nos. 12, 13, 187, 188 seem to be wanting. Margins slightly cropped. The original receipts are written on the rectos only: but on the versos of the first 10 ll. are receipts by other hands, dated 1808-1839.
