Segment 1 Stage two of the operation begins. 12cm of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th ribs and their corresponding transverse processes are removed from the male patient, through an incision made in his back. Elastic pressure is applied after this stage of the surgery. X-rays of the rib area after the second stage of surgery are shown. Intertitles describe the third stage of the surgery, but it is not pictured. In the third stage, sections of the 9th and 10th ribs are removed. After the third stage of surgery, the operation is now complete. X-rays of the completed surgery are shown. The patient is shown wearing a special belt that applies pressure to the area.
