Segment 1 The intertitles list the steps of Stage I of the procedure, 'Correction of Deformity'. The patient's foot is shown. The limb is bandaged and a tourniquet applied. The foot is incised and the muscles divided, with the intertitles giving a detailed description of what the surgeon is doing. The longitudinal arch of the foot is incised. Segment 2 Stage II, 'Prevention of Recurrence of Deformity' of the operation begins. The tendons of the foot are incised. The metatarsal bones are bored with awls and the holes enlarged.
