About this work

Description

Postcard (possibly early 1920s) showing Tom Thumb, standing with his arms at his side and a white carnation buttonhole. A full sized man in a top hat and calf length coat is standing next to him, his left arm raised well above Tom Thumb's head. This isn't Charles Sherwood Stratton, otherwise known as General Tom Thumb. There were several midgets who went by that name. The card would probably have been sold as a souvenir at places where he was exhibited as part of a freak or variety show.
