About this work

Description

In her left arm the nurse holds the baby while in her right hand she holds a handbill-size version of the stamp which this poster advertises. The stamp shows the baby blowing a kiss at the sun, referring to the sun as a source of protection against tuberculosis. In the background, on the right is a dark and unhealthy environment of slum dwellings, while on the left is a country scene with fresh air and sunshine
