    In conclusion, I can only express my satisfaction in being able to state that, notwithstanding the increased expenditure incurred in carrying out several works not included in my Estimate; also the wages paid to the extra carmen employed, and the keep of the extra horses purchased before the 25 th March , the work in my department has been carried out within the limits of my Estimate , as will be seen by the following figures:—
