About this work

Description

The film looks at the steps required to perform the successful implantation of a false eye. The demonstration of the procedure is on a clay model of a head with eye sockets; the camera dissolves between each stage. There are intertitles. Specific cases before and then after surgery are seen. The false eye moves convincingly. Names of the the relevant clinicians feature prior to the sequences; Case 1 is by R. Affleck Greeves (a young male), Case 2 by Keith Lyle (a middle-aged man), cases 3 and 4 by J. R. Hudson (a boy and a young man). A summary of the cases and the results appear on the closing intertitle; dates are Jan 1948 to Apr 1950.
