Three letters from Montagu Boulton, written to Galton whilst travelling through Egypt, Sudan and Syria:

  • Undated letter, enquiring into Galton's whereabouts and health; 1 ff.
  • Letter dated 9th [1846] addressed from Beyruth [Beirut], regarding the death of Ali, incidences of sickness amongst Boulton's travelling companions, his journey from Cairo and planned journey to Damascus; 1 ff.
  • Letter dated 30 September 1846 addressed from Damascus to Francis Galton, Beyrouth [Beirut]. Boulton enquires after Galton's health, and discusses his activities in Damascus; 2 ff.
  • [Boulton was Galton's travelling companion; his manuscript notes state that they met up either in Alexandria or en route after Malta.]
