The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Postcard of Cellini's celebrated 'Perseus with the head of Medusa', a subject with great homo-erotic potential which has been much exploited, and popular with gay artists from Cellini himself (who was imprisoned for sodomy) into the twentieth century."
