About this work

Description

This colour amateur film is described as being Persian in origin. The opening sequence is a sign, in Persian, 'Iranian Institut for Health Science Research' in the County of Malayer. A group of presumably British doctors or optometrists set up a number of travelling eye clinics. They travel by land rover. There are small numbers of indigenous people (mostly men and children) in remote villages (there are barren looking mountains in the background). A group of children play 'knucklebones', a form of jacks made with sheep knucklebones. Women are treated in the clinic. Several people have cataracts removed. There is a sign in Persian with an English translation underneath; 'National Institute of Public Research'. 1 segment.
