Description

Medical receipt book, c.1790 and possibly owned by Ann Gill of Fowey, Cornwall.

Includes three loose sheets, one of these is a recipe for a 'Cold Cream' and the recipe 'Paste for the Fistula' from a newspaper stuck onto the front board, with the date 1790. There are 99 pages of recipes filled out from the front of the book, and this includes some instructions for varnishes and dyes.

At the back of the book there are 86 pages of recipes that are mainly veterinary medicine such as 'Blister Ointment for Horses' as well as another newspaper recipe stuck on the back board for 'curing the Glanders in Horses without trepanning.'
