About this work

Description

Pontecorvo was asked to give evidence for the dispute of Patent Number 775,115: 'Production of Tetracycline by Fermentation' by American Cyanamid Co, which was opposed by Lepetit SpA in Milan.

Includes correspondence between Pontecorvo and Luigi Silvestri of Lepetit (written in Italian), as well as correspondence between Pontecorvo and other members of staff from Lepetit and Gill, Jennings & Every, Chartered Patent Agents. It seems that Silvestri called on Pontecorvo to provide evidence in support of the possible annulment of American Cyanamid Co's patent. Also includes copy of Pontecorvo's Statutory Declaration, a copy of the Patent Specification, and copies of the Stautory Declarations of other people involved in the dispute.

Pontecorvo's involvement in this case shows that he was a trusted and respected academic and that his opinion was valued. Outcome of the dispute is unknown.
