About this work

Description

Haldane addresses Pontecorvo by his personal nickname for him, "Crawbrigg". Pontecorvo's letter (Jun 1954) explains how he'd made "the first four point map of Aspergillus based on mitotic crossing over" and how "Roper and Pritchard have already obtained mitotic crossing over between alleles in Aspergillus".

This letter was annotated by Bernard L Cohen when he reviewed the collection for Pontecorvo's daughter, Lisa, "v. important copy letter for date and content but Haldane's reply would be even more important". Haldane's reply has not been found in the collection.
