Biographical note

This work appears to be complete except from the middle of Chapter xviii of Book II: to the middle of Chapter iv of Book IV, and from the middle of Chapter xix to the middle of Chapter xxiii of Books IV. It seems to be a collection of the receipts from the 'Chirurgia' of William of Congenis, and differs greatly from the full text printed by Sudhoff Chirurgie im Mittelalter, 1918, Part 2, pp. 297-384, though the order of subjects is much the same. Inserted are three slips, two in pencil, and one signed 'D.A.P. 18/11/1922', by Sir D'Arcy Power referring to the MS. with notes on the contents. Also a slip from an anonymous member of the B.M. staff, who mentions that there is a later copy of this Ms., Sloane 2273, in the British Museum.
