Finding aids

Catalogue description modified in 2014. For original description, see S.A.J. Moorat, Catalogue of Western Manuscripts on Medicine and Science in the Wellcome Historical Medical Library (London: Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, 1962-1973).

Ownership note

From the Library of Prince Baldassare Boncompagni (1821-1894). The Boncompagni manuscripts were catalogued by Enrico Narducci (Catalogo di manoscritti ora posseduti da D. Baldassarre Boncompagni), whose catalogue was published in two editions, 1862 and 1896, which differed in both content and numbering scheme. Accepted practice is therefore to cite both numbers, giving the 1896 number first followed by the earlier number in parentheses. In this case, however, the manuscript only appeared in the 1896 edition, and was given number 475.
