About this work

Description

Collection of medical receipts, mainly in Italian with a few in Latin. By several hands. The main text is in a somewhat difficult current script, with many contractions. Written on the outer cover is the name 'Andrea de Chornalba di brunes' and below the initials 'A.C.' The first leaf contains receipts concerning horses by the same hand, which is headed by a paragraph addressed to 'Amantissimo et charisimo quanto fratello'. On the verso of the penultimate leaf is an inscription by another hand: 'Jesus di 7 decembrio 1557 in Bergomo'. The paper bears a water-mark of a double-tailed mermaid which appears to be Briquet No. 13891 and is assigned to Rome 1531-35.
