Physical description

1 volume 254 ff. 4to. 21 x 15 1/2 cm. Original red sheepskin binding over wooden boards, with five brass bosses on each cover, and two metal and leather clasps, one wanting. There are vellum fly-leaves pasted down inside the upperand lower covers form a 14th century Psalter. Some leave are wanting at the biginning, perhaps 9. A leaf has been cut out after ff. 33r, 41r, 63r. Written by several contemporary hands. On fol. 64 is a large initial P in red which has been badly rubbed. Other ornamental capitals, paragraph marks, headings and underlinings in red. Ff. 1r, 5r, 6r, 15v, 51v, 59v contain pen-drawn astronomical figures in red and black. On fol. 57v is a drawing of the 'Blood-letting Man' also in red and black. Ff. 9r, 11r, 16-20 contain Tables in red and black. On fol. 60v is a figure made up of circles, which may be a decoration. The 'Lumen animae' has its own foliation 1-117 in red: a new foliation 1-254 has been added in pencil, beginning at the frist leaf of text in the MS.
