About this work

Description

Collection of medical, cookery, household, and technical receipts: with notes and extracts on miscellaneous subjects, and additions by other hands. There are a number of inserted receipts, etc., including 14 in an envelope. These are by various hands, and of the first half of the 19th century. The latest dated entry is 'Lord Ponsonby's remedy for Cholera', with a cure for corns: these are signed 'W[illiam] R[obert] Ward 1868'. This would be presumably a relation of the original compiler, who was born in 1807 and died in 1879.
